Pupil Premium
The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to maintained schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
Pupil premium funding is available to both mainstream and non-mainstream schools, such as special schools and pupil referral units. It is paid to schools according to the number of pupils who have been:
- Registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
- Been in care for 6 months or longer
- Is no longer in care but has been in care at any point
The Service Pupil Premium is provided by the Department for Education, to maintained schools in England who have children of Regular Armed Forces personnel among their pupil population to provide additional (mainly pastoral) support.
Governors oversee the spending of Pupil Premium Funding and work with leaders to assess the impact of this.
Additional Recovery Grant Funding has been provided based on the number of pupils who fall into the pupil premium funding band as describe above. Our latest plan sets our priorities for the next 3 years and how spending will be allocated this academic year to address these. We are currently in Year 1 of a new 3 Year Plan.
